January Slide on Hanson Street Hill

This Event has been CANCELLED due to a lack of snow...we are looking forward to a great January Slide next year!!

By sled, saucer, tube or snowboard, there are prizes to be won in the upcoming January Slide on the Hanson Hill located at North Mears in downtown Whitehall.Members of the White Lake Optimist Club and the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce are organizing an afternoon of racing and competitions for all ages on Saturday, January 28.Registration for the slide starts at 12 noon with races beginning at 1:00 pm. A variety of prizes will be awarded to first and second place finishers in each contest. The Optimist Club will serve free hot cocoa for those participating.  Separate contests are offered for sleds, saucers and tubes, and snowboards, with age brackets in each sledding category divided into the following groups:Sleds: 3 & under; 4–6 year olds; 7–10 year olds; 11–17 years old; 18 & upSaucers/tubes: 3 & under; 4–6 year olds; 7–10 year olds; 11–17 years old; 18 & upSnowboarding: 6-10 year olds; 11–17 year olds; 18 & up.**Parents may ride with their child in the 3 and under categories.As a grand finale, parents will have a chance to try their hand at the competition and have a race all their own with kids standing by to cheer them on.Open sledding is available before the contest and after the races conclude.  The event will be cancelled if there is not enough snow.For more information, contact the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce at (231) 893-4585 or check out the website, www.whitelake.org.
